Technical details

Would you like to experience the background noises of your favorite locomotive on your model railway? No problem with the ESU LokProgrammer! The only requirement: a PC with a sound card, serial interface (or USB) and Windows (Windows 8.1 and higher). Simply record the original noises of your locomotive and then edit them on the computer.
The settings of all ESU decoders - i.e. all LokSound decoders and LokPilot - can also be changed to suit your needs using the LokProgrammer - so nothing stands in the way of your personal railway feeling. Thanks to the Windows graphical user interface, the decoder can be optimally adapted even without programming experience. Adapting a digital decoder has never been so easy!

What can the LokProgrammer do?

• Changing the sound stored on the LokSound module
• Setting/changing all digital parameters of the LokSound decoder such as locomotive address, acceleration, maximum speed, braking delay, lamp brightness and much more. All options can be conveniently set using the mouse on the PC - no tedious entry of CVs (configuration variables) on the control unit!
• Reassemble sound data and transfer it to the LokSound decoder. All sounds that you can load onto your PC's hard drive can be used.
• Sounds can be assigned to different events
• Triggering additional sounds using the function keys

Sound

With the LokProgrammer you can delete the sound data of any LokSound decoder as often as you like and replace it with a different sound. We offer over 400 different, fully coordinated sounds from a wide range of series and types for download. You can also change individual parts of a sound project: You don't like the whistle on the decoder? Then simply replace it with one of the many others! Suitable sources are not only those we offer, but also all sounds in Windows *.wav format - even speech or music are no problem for our decoders! With the help of the LokProgrammer, you can use the full flexibility and functionality that the LokSound decoders offer you.

Settings

But the LokProgrammer is also useful for all other ESU decoders; regardless of whether they are DCC, multi-protocol or M4 decoders. With its help, you can easily and conveniently change all the settings of the decoder in question. The number of options available varies depending on the decoder. In addition to addresses, starting and braking acceleration values, this mainly affects the function key assignment (function mapping), the assignment of effects to the individual function outputs or the lamp brightness. The LokProgrammer can also help you optimize the load control parameters or the speed table. All options can be set conveniently. There is no longer any need for tedious input of CVs on the digital control center!

Connection

And it's that easy for you: The LokProgrammer is a small programming box that is connected between the PC and a programming track. To connect it, you either need a free serial port or you can use the included USB adapter cable (works up to the current Windows 10). We also supply a plug-in power supply (500mA) for the power supply. If you need more power (e.g. for Gauge 1 models) you can use a conventional model railway transformer instead.

Software

Then start the particularly user-friendly LokProgrammer software. This runs on all modern Windows systems (Windows 8.1 or higher). Place the locomotive with ESU decoder on the track and you can read out, change and reprogram the decoder data. The program reliably recognizes which decoder you have installed in your locomotive.

Open

The LokProgrammer is not only recommended for our ESU decoders: Many well-known model railway manufacturers now equip their locomotives ex works with ESU decoders, which of course can also be set and changed using the LokProgrammer - within the scope of their technical specifications. Purchasing a LokProgrammer is therefore definitely a worthwhile investment!

Upgrades

The LokProgrammer is also useful for updating decoders. Almost all ESU decoders can be updated so that new software versions can be installed if required. All you need is the LokProgrammer and a small, of course free, update program in our software area.

Future

The LokProgrammer software is constantly being developed further. The latest version is always available for free download on our homepage or can be automatically installed on your computer using the Internet update function.
