Prototype information

The "Bavaria" was a very well-known, international long-distance train. From 1969 to 1977 it was part of the Trans-European Railway Network, known as TEE for short. It ran on the Munich - Zurich route and travelled along the scenic Allgäu Railway to Lindau. The 4-car diesel multiple units of the RAm type that were initially used were no longer used there after a serious accident in 1971.
The German TEE cars of the Avmz 111 (compartment car) and Apmz 121 (open-plan car) types were used as successors, as was the SBB dining car WRm, which was specially painted in TEE colors. With the gold-plated entrance doors, the inscriptions "TEE" with a ring border and "Restaurant", this was easy to distinguish from all other TEE cars from a distance. The train ran in three or four parts, depending on capacity.
The new series 210 was used as a train locomotive between Munich and Lindau, or alternatively the series 218, initially in the original purple-red, and from the mid-1970s also in the new colors ocean blue/beige.From 1977 the TEE 66/67 "Bavaria" was downgraded to an express train and at the end of 2002 the Munich - Zurich train connection finally lost the name "Bavaria".
