Arnold HN2586S - SNCF, six-axle dual-system electric locomotive CC 21004, in "Grand Confort/Betón" livery with "Nouille" logo, Ep. IV-V, with DCC sound decoder
Prototype information
In 1969, two locomotives were put into service, the CC 21001 on June 17 and the CC 21002 on July 2, 1969. Later, the CC 21003 and CC 21004 were added, which entered service on June 30 and July 29, 1974. The locomotives were used in various tests related to the future TGV. Of these, the CC 21001 reached a speed of 285 km/h in 1975, setting a world record with 25 kV AC and 50 Hz. Two locomotives were converted for use on the new high-speed line between Paris and Lyon, making it possible to measure the track geometry and to use the Mauzin car to locate and measure rail defects and deformations. The CC 21003 and CC 21004 engines were put into service on the TEE 22/23 "Cisalpin" (Paris-Gare de Lyon - Milano Centrale - Venezia Santa Lucia), which operated on the French part of its route on the Paris - Vallorbe section under 1.5 kV direct current and 25 kV 50 Hz alternating current.
Note that in 1977 the CC 21003 led a campaign of essays in the USA for the Amtrak company: it was deeply modified, with a metal gray livery, automatic teams and a power supply exclusively in 11000 V 25 Hz (if a certain kinship with the never mixed tests with the project of 14500 was carried out, no order took place, BB machines with Swedish design were preferred.
