The electric locomotives of the Dutch series 1200 are six-axle, heavy electric locomotives. The locomotives were developed by the American companies Westinghouse and Baldwin, but built under license in the Netherlands. A total of 25 locomotives were sold to the Dutch State Railways (NS). The American locomotives are characterized by their high, bulky front ends and small driver's cab. Most of the locomotives of the series 1200 were in use by the NS until 1988. Today, a few vehicles are still in use by museums or private railway companies.
The locomotive with the number 1207 was delivered to the NS in 1952 with the factory number 931. In its turquoise livery, the locomotive ran in front of the NS's first post-war express train carriages
