The V 100 series was procured in series from 1961/62 after testing of pre-series machines. It was used in mixed branch line operations on non-electrified routes and in light service on main lines. With an output of 1100 hp (810 kW) it was approved for 110 km/h. In 1968 the machines were renumbered as series 211.
