Lima HL4675 - DB AG, 3-piece set, supplementary set ICE 1 series 401, Ep. VI
Prototype information
In 1992, the DB summer timetable marked the beginning of the era of ICE scheduled services. With their top speed of 280 km/h and 9600 kW continuous power, they were already among the stars on the rails. The elegant trains were soon a common sight between Hamburg and Stuttgart/Munich and between Cologne and Berlin.
Later, they also ran as far as Vienna or Zurich/Interlaken, and for the latter destinations they were equipped with additional current collectors on the power cars in accordance with Swiss regulations and with Swiss safety systems.
After 1998, the appearance changed slightly, as the red tone of the decorative stripe was changed from oriental red to traffic red and the pastel purple stripe was dropped.
Today, some of these trains are running with green decorative stripes on the power car. After almost 30 years of operation, the trains have now clocked up several million kilometers, but according to current plans, these trains will remain in use after 2030.
