Kato K1264014-DCC - Steam locomotive Class 4000 BigBoy UP, Ep.VI, #4014, museum locomotive, DCC
With 25 examples built by ALCO, the Class 4000, also known as the Big Boy, was the largest steam locomotive in use by the Union Pacific. There was no comparatively large steam locomotive anywhere in the world. The engines were primarily used on the steep and winding routes of the Rocky Mountains.
Since 2019, the locomotive with the road number 4014 has been actively operating under steam again, making it the largest operational steam locomotive today. Like the smaller Challenger 3985, it is operated by the Union Pacific Railroad.
The Kato model is a completely new design and has two five-pole motors with a flywheel, a light changer and an incredibly detailed look.
Model features:
-New design
-Two five-pole motors with flywheel
-Numerous added details
-Light change and illuminated number boards
-Power consumption via locomotive and tender
-operational museum version
-Minimum radius: 282 mm
