Kato K2892 - Diesel locomotive M61 MAV, Ep.IV
The Swedish locomotive builder Nydqvist och Holm AB (NOHAB) received the license to build EMD locomotives for Europe in 1949. The six-axle Australian B Class of the Victoria Railway served as the basis. The design was adapted to the UIC standard, in particular to the narrower gauge, and the locomotive also received European traction and bumper devices. The locomotives were built by Anglo-Franco-Belge (AFB) for the Belgian and Luxembourg railways. NOHAB locomotives were in use on the state railways of Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Luxembourg and Hungary. Today, numerous examples can still be found in active service on private railways in Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Hungary, Belgium, Luxembourg and Kosovo, among others.
