BRAWA 50514 - H0 heavy duty truck Uaai [9950] DR
Role model information
Large and heavy loads require special means of transport or wagons. The Rheinisch Westfälische Elektrowerk A.-G. In 1928, Essen (RWE) awarded the Maschinenfabrik Augsburg Nürnberg (MAN) a contract to build two new beak wagons. This was the only way to transport the ever-growing transformers for the substations. These were listed under sketch 125 in the list of wagons in the Deutsche Reichsbahn's fleet for exceptional transport.
The maximum load of the wagons of 168 tons was distributed over 18 axles. A four-axle and a five-axle bogie each carried a bridge on which a support beak was supported. The supporting beaks were the characteristic, riveted truss structures. When unloaded, the two beaks were coupled with bolts, so that the empty beak car reached a remarkable length of 27.525 m over buffers. The dead weight was 97.2 t. For loading, the two halves were pulled apart and a self-supporting transformer was hung between the supporting jaws or an 8.40 m long truss supporting structure. As private vehicles ([P] cars), the cars were initially used by the Deutsche Reichbahn (company) and later by the Federal Railway and were initially based at the KBE's Cologne Kendenich station. Two more SSt 125s were also built by MAN in 1940 and belonged to Preußen Elektra Hannover and Elektrowerke A.-G. Berlin. After the war, the latter remained with the Deutsche Reichsbahn in the USSR zone and later came to the DR.
Due to the dimensions of the special cargo, which often exceeded the vehicle boundaries, were allowed The wagons can only be loaded and run as exceptional transports with a maximum permissible speed of 40 km/h. On narrow bridges, you may only have to walk at walking speed and under observation. For this reason, such trips were primarily carried out on the outskirts of the day. Unloaded, the wagons were allowed to be transported at the end of regular freight trains at a speed of 65 km/h. At that time the usual maximum speed of regular freight trains. On the DB, the maximum speed was increased to 80 km/h when roller bearings were installed. The car 84 80 995 8 001-3, which was most recently based in Dortmund main station, was handed over to Bahnwelt Darmstadt Kranichstein in 2011 by RWE Rhein-Ruhr Netzservice GmbH as a museum exhibit.
