BRAWA 50091 - H0 Gas tank wagon 6-axle ZZd "VTG" DB
Role model information
In 1941, the Heidelberg company Waggonfabrik Fuchs delivered the first 6-axle gas tank wagons to the Deutsche Reichsbahn. With a length over buffers of 14.6 m and a container volume of 42.5 m³, these vehicles were a good deal larger than the acid tank wagons of the same design. The wagons for transporting gases were needed for the transport of butane and propane.
From the Deutsche Reichsbahn, the wagons in West Germany came to the private wagon rental company VTG, among others. In the east, the wagons were hired directly at the Deutsche Reichsbahn.
So that the gas loaded in the containers could not heat up excessively due to solar radiation, expand and thereby increase the pressure in the container, the wagons were partially sealed Sun protection roof.
The conversion of the boiler riser is documented for Reichsbahn Ost wagons. This could no longer be done from the sides, but only from the handbrake platform.
