Role model information

In addition to German models, the DR retained large quantities of foreign freight wagons after 1945. While initially every available freight wagon was used to carry out transport tasks, efforts were soon made to achieve a certain standardization of the wagon fleet. Therefore, fragment types were preferred for conversion into railway company cars, which could often extend their service life by many years. Covered freight wagons were used in construction trains to store materials and supplies, as mobile workshops and, when further converted, also as cultural, washing, living, sleeping and kitchen wagons.
