Exemplary information

Since the EWI proved to be excellent, there were only a few points that needed to be improved when developing it into the EWII. In order to be able to refloor the car floor, the EWII received new bogies with a 2,500 mm wheelbase and only 800 mm running circle diameter of the wheels. Since the window line is correspondingly lower, the wagons in the train with EWI can be clearly recognized. The windows were also one-piece and retractable, but now double-glazed. While the 1st class carriages otherwise corresponded completely to their EWI counterparts, the 2nd class carriages were 1 m longer due to increased seat spacing. The seats had red imitation leather upholstery in the smoking compartments and green in the non-smoking compartments, and the walls had imitation wood. A total of 798 wagons were manufactured from 1965 to 1976, including luggage and mail wagons that were not available at the EWI.
