The T 16.1 (later BR 94.5–18) was a freight train tank locomotive of the Royal Prussian State Railway. It was also purchased by the Reichseisenbahn Alsace-Lorraine. A total of 1,236 locomotives of this series were built, including the repeat orders from the Deutsche Reichsbahn between 1913 and 1924.
Due to their performance, the locomotives were not only used on branch lines and in shunting operations, but could also replace the costly rack-and-pinion operation on steep stretches in friction operation.
