The T 16.1 (later BR 94.5) was a freight train tank locomotive of the Royal Prussian State Railway. A total of 1,236 locomotives of this series were built, including the repeat order from the German Reichsbahn between 1913 and 1924. Due to their performance, the locomotives of the series were not only found on branch lines and in shunting service, but could also replace the cost-intensive rack operation on steep sections in friction operation. For use on steep stretches, e.g. in the Thuringian Forest, the locomotives were fitted with a Riggenbach type counterpressure brake, the main components of which were located on the right-hand side of the smoke chamber.
