As the successor to the no longer contemporary railcars of the M131.1 series, the first prototype of the new M151.0 railcar was presented by the Vagonka Tatra company in 1973. In October 1973, this vehicle was presented to visitors at the World Exhibition of Railway Technology in Basel. Starting in 1975, a total of 678 railcars were delivered in seven production series. In addition to the railcars, matching trailers of the Blm type were supplied, which were identical in appearance to the railcars. In the period from 1979 to 1986, 205 vehicles were also delivered to the Hungarian state railways MAV and incorporated there under the Bzmot series.
The railcars can even be found in cross-border local transport between Germany and the Czech Republic. Since 1988, the railcars have had the series number 810. Model railway enthusiasts gave the railcar the nickname "bread box" - probably inspired by its angular construction.
