Roco 81392 - Model Railway Manual: Signals – Construction & Connection
Model details
Manual: Model railway signals - construction & connection
The track system is set, the switches are set, the first trains are running on a trial basis, and yet something crucial is still missing - the signals. In the original, semaphore and light main signals show the train driver whether and at what speed he can drive on the next section of track. In the model railway, the "train driver" sits at his speed controller and actually doesn't need any signals at all, because he controls the trains via the voltage on the track and by sight. Nevertheless, most model railroaders want their system to be equipped with signals that are based on the original. But what signals are there, what do they mean and where do they have to be set up?
This brochure explains the main model signals controlled by electricity, shows you the prototypical installation location and gives concrete tips on how you can switch them analogue or digitally, from block switching to shunting signals and level crossings. It is not a signal book in the sense of DS 301/DV 301 of DB, DR and DB AG.
The publication focuses primarily on the Viessmann signals of the H0 and N gauges sold by Roco/Fleischmann. However, older models or signals from other manufacturers and gauges can also be set up and connected according to these instructions. In addition, the meaning of some train, shunting and secondary signals is discussed.
The circuit suggestions have been developed primarily for DC model railways, but most can also be used on AC systems with minor adjustments.
