From 1882 to 1910, around 1,550 tank locomotives of the T3 type in various designs were delivered to the Prussian State Railways (KPEV) and other state railways. As type Cn2, the locomotive in the M III-4p version had a friction load of 36 t and could reach a maximum speed of 40 km/h with an output of 300 PSi. The German Reichsbahn Company (DRG) took over 511 units and classified them in its inventory under the designation BR 89.70–75. The Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) had locomotives of this series in operation on branch lines and as factory locomotives until 1968.
