In 1946, the Dutch State Railways took over over 2,000 wagons from the USATC stocks. Among them were 1,000 covered freight cars, which were put into service with the numbers 22501–23400. These were used until 1953.
Because there was a shortage of paint in the post-war years, only the bare essentials were changed: the wagons initially kept their olive green USATC color, only the USATC lettering was painted over.
