In 2010, the Mariazellerbahn was acquired by the Lower Austrian Transport Organization Company (NÖVOG) from the ÖBB. Of the 15 electric locomotives of the 1099 series, only four machines remained in the inventory. In 2020, the E 10 (1099 010), which had previously been used as a spare parts donor, was brought back into shape. It also received a new look. In addition to the brown and gold painted locomotive body, the roof and the ventilation grilles shine in silver. This means that the venerable locomotive is once again in use for the nostalgic train service with the "Ötscherbär".
