The electric locomotives of the Dutch series 1200 are six-axle, heavy electric locomotives. The locomotives were developed by the American companies Westinghouse and Baldwin, but built under license in the Netherlands. A total of 25 locomotives were sold to the Dutch State Railways (NS). Characteristic of the American locomotive are the high, beefy front ends and the small driver's cab. Until 1988, most of the 1200 series locomotives were in use by the NS. Today, a few vehicles are still in use by museums or private railway companies.
The locomotive with the number 1207 was delivered to the NS in 1952 with the factory number 931. In its turquoise livery, the locomotive ran in front of the NS's first post-war express train carriages
