On May 22nd, 1975, the train category "Swiss Express" of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) was introduced together with the commissioning of the Heitersberg line and existed until 1982. This category replaced the earlier city express trains. At the time, they were considered the SBB's flagship trains and served the most important traffic route from Geneva to St. Gallen. The trains were pulled by eight Re 4/4 IIs that had been specially prepared for this purpose. Unfortunately, only the 11108 and the 11109 are reminiscent of the livery of that time.
With the Re 4/4 II 11108, we are announcing one of the more popular locomotives. The "Cremeschnitte", as it is affectionately known, which will still be in regular use until 2021, is now parked in Olten. There it is waiting for further use.
