In 2011/12, 25 locomotives of the TRAXX type P160 AC2 were delivered to the Hungarian MAV. Until the beginning of 2017, the machines were used almost exclusively in Hungarian domestic traffic and on EC/EN trains Budapest-Bucharest. In order to free up locomotives of the series 470 for the push-pull trains purchased by the ÖBB, the series 480 has since also been used in Austria.
