In 2011/12, 25 locomotives of the TRAXX type P160 AC2 were delivered to the Hungarian MAV. Until the beginning of 2017, the machines were used almost exclusively in Hungarian domestic traffic and EC/EN trains Budapest-Bucharest. In order to free up locomotives of the 470 series for the push-pull trains purchased by the ÖBB, the 480 series has since been used in Austria.
