The design of the series 132 was derived from the experience with the series 130 and 131. The DR purchased 709 of the optimized locomotives with electric heating system. Machines from the Voroshilovgrad locomotive factory in the Soviet Union. The maximum speed was set at 120 km/h, the power of the versatile machine was 3,000 hp.
