The diesel locomotive 749 257 was converted from the original series T 478.2 (from 1988: 752). It comes from the delivery series of 82 machines without train heating for freight train operation. In the 1990s, the locomotive was retrofitted with an electric heater and renamed series 749. The decisive factor for this was the more economical use of the Bardotkas on short trains. The locomotive also received the pleasing Šumperk color scheme, which was used on several locomotives in different color combinations. They were used for both passenger and freight trains in the Czech Republic.
