Prototype information

The Henschel-Wegmann train was initially exhibited at the exhibition to mark the 100th anniversary of the German railways from July 14 to October 13, 1935 in Nuremberg and then went to Kassel for further processing. When the summer timetable came into force in 1936, the Henschel-Wegmann train ran the Berlin – Dresden route with two pairs of trains per day. It took one hour and 40 minutes to complete the route, beating the previous record by 28 minutes, a record that still stands today. In the official calculations, the Reichsbahn only measured its speed between Berlin and Dresden Neustadt, neglecting the last few kilometers to Dresden Central Station. The average speed of the train was therefore given as 111.2 km/h. The short turnaround time in Dresden between the D 54 and D 57 connections was obviously very tight.
As it turned out, the locomotive not only had to drive around the train, but also replenish its supplies.
Fortunately, it did not have to be turned on the turntable as well. This turnaround time problem was solved by the Reichsbahn in the 1936 winter timetable.
