Rivarossi HR2928S - AWT, diesel locomotive Rh. D.753.7 in orange/grey livery, Ep. V-VI, with DCC sound decoder
Prototype information
D753 diesel locomotives
The D753 diesel locomotives are the result of the reconstruction of a series of T478.3 locomotives of the Czechoslovak Railways, built between the 1960s and 1970s and nicknamed "Brejlovec" (Brejlovec) due to the characteristic shape of the front windows of the driver's cabs.
Since 2001, about 40 of these cars have arrived in Italy, acquired by various private railway companies after being extensively rebuilt by the Leon D'Oro company to modernise them and bring them up to the safety standards required by the Italian network. Some kept their original diesel engine and were classified as D752, while most received a new Caterpillar diesel engine and were classified as D753 or DE520 (for the NordCargo-approved vehicles).
Due to their maximum speed of 100 km/h, they are mainly used for freight train services, both on electrified and non-electrified lines, and are now widely used on the Italian routes.
