PIKO 40263 - N diesel railcar BR 624 DB AG V, 3 pieces.
Novelty 2023: 3 pieces. Print variant of the BR 624 in mint green of the DB AG Ep. V. The VT 23 and VT 24 series refer to diesel multiple units of the German Federal Railroad, consisting of two powered end cars and up to two middle cars. These were designated VM 23 and VM 24 respectively. In 1968, the railcars were redesignated as the 624 series, and the vehicles equipped with air suspension were given the designation 634. From then on, the middle cars were called 924 and 934.
A total of 80 railcars and 55 middle cars were built by MAN and the Wagon factory Uerdingen was built.
In 1967, the first experiments with track-curve-dependent wagon body control began. For this purpose, numerous VT and VM were retrofitted with air suspension. The multiple units usually consist of two powered multiple units and one non-driven middle car. However, units can also be formed without or with up to two middle cars. An even larger number of middle cars is not possible in passenger service, but to form multiple units a maximum of three units / six machines may be operated in a train set.
From 2005 onwards, the railcars were replaced by new vehicles and parked.
