PIKO 53274 - Apron express train car AB4yslwe 1st/2nd Class DB III
With new car number
Apron express train car AB4yslwe 1st/2nd. Class of the DB Ep. III
These striking passenger cars were created from two prototype cars developed by Linke-Hoffmann-Busch in 1939, which were based on the well-known DRG "Schürzen" express train cars. They also had streamlined side skirts and paneled car ends. In contrast to the express train cars, the entrances at the ends of the cars were set back and each had two revolving doors for quicker passenger changes. After the war, both the DB and the DR had this type of wagon in their inventory. In 1978 the DB still had three cars, now known as Bye670, and an AByse633. The DR retired the last vehicles of this type in 1981. Only three of these apron express train cars have been preserved as museum vehicles for the traditional train of the Nuremberg Transport Museum.
