Novelty 2022: With the newly designed model of the VT 2.09 rail bus from the Deutsche Reichsbahn, PIKO is responding to an often-mentioned wish of many model railroaders for a contemporary, detailed and operational version of the well-known “Piglet Taxe”. After developing the innovative control logic of the DB rail bus, for which PIKO received the Golden Track in 2017, it makes sense to now also implement the widespread counterpart from East Germany with the corresponding logic in great detail. The railcar is powered by a powerful micro-engine, which is equipped with flywheels to ensure perfect running characteristics, and has a factory-installed buffer capacitor for optimal driving characteristics without sound interruptions. The drive acts on both axles of the railcar. The railcar and sidecar can be coupled to one another via current-conducting short coupling kinematics. The lighting functions of both vehicles can be switched separately, allowing a clear view of the passenger compartments. The locomotive automatically registers whether a sidecar is attached and then switches off the lighting between vehicles. The PIKO “Ferkeltaxe” is already equipped with a suitable mfx®-capable PluX22 sound decoder ex works.
