With the newly designed model of the VT 2.09 rail bus of the Deutsche Reichsbahn, PIKO is responding to an often-mentioned wish of many model railway enthusiasts for a contemporary, detailed and operational version of the well-known Piglet Taxi. After developing the innovative control logic of the DB rail bus, for which PIKO received the Golden Track in 2017, it makes sense to now also
implement the widespread counterpart from East Germany with the appropriate logic in great detail. The railcar is powered by a powerful micro-engine that is equipped with flywheels to ensure perfect
running characteristics and has a factory-installed buffer capacitor for optimal driving characteristics without sound interruptions. The drive acts on both
axles of the railcar. Railcars and control cars can be coupled to one another via current-conducting short coupling kinematics. The lighting functions of both vehicles can be switched separately, allowing a clear view of the passenger compartments. For example, the locomotive independently registers whether a control car is attached and then switches off the lighting between the vehicles. The PIKO Piglet Taxi is prepared for easy retrofitting with sound and the largest possible loudspeaker
. The AC model is already equipped with a suitable mfx-compatible PluX22 decoder ex works.
