PIKO 52693 - Diesel locomotive Rh 2200 NS III AC version
The diesel-electric, four-axle bogie locomotives of the 2200 series of the Dutch State Railways NS characterized the period of traction change from steam to diesel locomotives during their procurement years from 1955 to 1958. Together with the 2400 series, 280 examples were put into service. With their one-sided end driver's cabs and long stems, the machines embodied an American design. However, the Nazi machines were manufactured exclusively by Western European companies. The 100 km/h locomotives could not only be used in freight train and shunting services, but were also often used in front of passenger trains. For heavy ore trains, up to four locomotives of the 900 hp machines were sometimes used in multiple traction. A PIKO SmartDecoder 4.1 with mfx capability is installed ex works, and the locomotive is also prepared for easy retrofitting with sound and the largest possible loudspeaker.
