Novelty 2022: Variant of the BR 216 of the DB AG in era V with a typical bib. In the 1960s and 1970s, the V 160 and 216 series were the express train locomotives for routes without contact wires on the Federal Railway. The new design of this important vehicle type not only closes a gap in PIKO's range, but will also enrich many model railway systems from eras III to V with numerous variants. The development team has implemented the distinctive shape of the model in the model with outstanding quality and at the same time achieved ideal driving characteristics. These attributes are underlined by the effective use of perfect engravings and a paint finish that is consistent down to the smallest detail. Contemporary LED technology serves as the basis for the light change in red/white as well as the light functions that can be switched by retrofitting a digital decoder. The digital interface PluX22 according to NEM 658 is state-of-the-art and a decoder can be easily plugged in. The buffer beam of the vehicle can be completed in a prototypical manner using the included accessories.

The model reflects the typical operating condition of a BR 216 in Era V, characterized by the oriental red paintwork with light gray bib. For the first time, the Era V machine from PIKO appears without a snow plow. The model has maneuvering handles on the frame for this purpose.
