The class 425 and 426 railcars (popularly known as “Quitschie”) from the Siemens Transportation Systems/Bombardier/DWA consortium are light electric articulated multiple units for S-Bahn and regional traffic.
They are almost identical in construction to the class 424 , which is used in the Hanover S-Bahn network. It differs from the externally very similar pure S-Bahn series 423 in, among other things, the entrance height, the reduced number of doors (2 instead of 3 on each side of the car) and a built-in toilet. The driving and braking technology, on the other hand, is the same, with a few differences, for example. B. in the power electronics, almost identical to that of the 423.
