The prototype was delivered from 1919. It had an output of 1,023 kW (1,390 hp), weighed 120.4 tons and reached a top speed of 65 km/h. 850 units were built in total. They usually transported freight trains. The last DB unit, the 56 2637, was decommissioned in 1963 and retired in 1965.
