The set consists of three express train carriages, type UIC-X, type Aüm, and a dining car, type WR4ü-38.

From 1952, the German Federal Railway put the express train carriages known as UIC-X carriages into service. These carriages had a level of comfort previously unknown in Europe. The UIC-X carriages were immediately used in high-quality express trains. The existing F train network (up to 1956 with the then first and second class carriages, after that only the first) was very quickly converted to the UIC carriages.
