With their distinctive design, the locomotives of the E 94 series were among the most famous electric locomotives in Germany. A sensible design also proved that speeds of 100 km/h can be reached with a traction drive. The hourly output of the E 94 was an impressive 3,240 kW, and the starting output was even 3,900 kW. The electric locomotives that remained after the war were disrespectfully called "iron pigs" by the DR.
