ESU 51804 - Servo drive, precision miniature servo, plastic gear, with microcontroller, 30cm cable harness, mounting material, RETAIL
Technical details
With the precision servo drive, ESU is today introducing a new, powerful, noiseless drive suitable for the SwitchPilot decoder. Based on sophisticated technology from RC model making and the experience that ESU has gained with the previous servo drive, the new ESU precision servo drive is even better suited than other brands to solving all drive issues relating to your model railway.
Applications
The most important application for the precision servo drive is setting switches. Thanks to its help, you will be able to set your switches in a true-to-scale and realistic way in the future: the switch train moves slowly and powerfully from one position to the other. The switch drive works largely silently. The new precision gear made of durable plastic makes it possible.
The motorization of level crossings is also child's play with the precision servo drive and the SwitchPilot (servo). You can finally lower the barriers in good time at your switch control panel in the control center. Do you have a roundhouse and want to open and close the gates remotely? This is now also possible without any problems. Thanks to the new servo electronics, the ESU precision servo drive moves much more smoothly than conventional servos. This is because the ESU product has been optimized for slow movements.
Miniature servo
The most important component of the servo drive is a very small, 9 gram miniature servo that has been optimized and developed specifically for model railway needs. Despite its small dimensions of just 26 mm x 13 mm x 24 mm, it achieves a force of up to 1.0 kg/cm. Its cable length of 30 cm (almost twice as long as standard servos from mail order) also allows greater distances between the servo drive and the decoder. In addition, processor-controlled servo electronics ensure precise control of the target position without jerking - important especially for garage doors. The idle power requirement of the electronics, which is more than half that of its predecessor, also protects the decoder. The most important optimization of the new ESU precision servo drive, however, concerns the switching on: The extremely annoying "twitching" known from conventional RC servos when the system is switched on is reliably 100% suppressed in every operating state. You hear absolutely nothing from this drive when switching it on and no barrier shakes...
Accessories
To make using the precision servo drive as easy as possible, we supply a comprehensive range of accessories specially tailored to the needs of model railroaders: In addition to various control horns, a specially manufactured servo horn enables the control wire to be mounted directly. The control wire itself is of course also included in the delivery, along with a set of fastening screws. The most important accessory, however, is the specially developed servo mount: This allows you to install the servo drive both horizontally and vertically - depending on the application.
