Technical details

Because modern computers no longer have a serial interface, the LokProgrammer has been supplied with a USB adapter cable for many years. Unfortunately, it has been shown that the previous cable supplied by us up to 2009 does not work properly with Windows Vista or Windows 7, or that it depends very much on the driver and the computer environment whether it works or not.
But even under Windows XP, problems can arise with the new Lokprogrammer software 4.xx, which is optimized for modern Windows systems, if you use the old cable.
The new cable works perfectly with all ESU software versions and all Windows operating systems. It is based on a USB 2.0 chip from FTDI, which offers excellent drivers.

We therefore recommend that you no longer use the older cables supplied up to the end of 2009 and use the new cable instead. If you have been using your LokProgrammer for a while and are planning to upgrade to Windows 7, you will definitely need a new USB cable.
