Prototype information

Switzerland began to standardize some types of freight cars early on. These were then purchased by all private railways in order to improve repairs and spare parts inventory. These included covered freight cars with a 4.5 m wheelbase and a frame length of 7.10 m. The wheelbase was later increased to 5 m to improve running characteristics. In this form, the wagons known as K2 were purchased in large quantities by the SBB.
