Role model information

All 45 98.10s built were found at the Deutsche Bundesbahn after 1945 and continued to be used exclusively in their Bavarian homeland. The DB did not make any major changes or improvements; a new addition at the end of the 1950s was the addition of a third headlight. If the coal box or the water boxes had to be replaced due to corrosion, the new ones were often made using welding technology. In 1950 the locomotives were distributed among the three directorates Munich, Augsburg and Regensburg. The ED Regensburg was home to by far the most locomotives, owning 28 of them.
