Prototype information

In order to complete the program of standard locomotives, the Krupp company received the order in 1934 to initially build two locomotives of the 06 series. During the realization, the Deutsche Reichsbahn's interest in the giant locomotives began to wane, so the class 06 001 locomotive was not delivered until March 1939, and the 06 002 locomotive was not delivered until August 1939. At the end of 1940, new painting regulations were published by the Deutsche Reichsbahn, According to which the bodies of the streamlined locomotives were no longer to be painted black but rather anthracite gray.
