BRAWA 46793 - H0 luggage trolley Pwi-29 DRG
Role model information
The development of the two-axle standard transit cars of the interchangeable design is closely linked to the emergence of standardization of components in the railway industry as a key industry in the 1920s. The Deutsche Reichsbahn Gesellschaft (DRG) had set itself the goal of having wagon components manufactured across companies according to the same specifications and conditions in order to be able to drastically reduce the maintenance effort in its own factories later and to make components interchangeable. Against this background, the DRG commissioned the Gesellschaft Deutscher Waggonfabriken (DWV) to develop and deliver the desired standard transit wagons. By specifying the replacement construction, around 1,400 drawings were no longer necessary for each individual type of wagon. Rather, there was a basic type on which the modified designs were based with around 150 of our own drawings. From 1928 onwards, almost 5,500 cars of the various types BCi-28, Ci-28, CDi-29, Pwi-28, Ci-29 BCi-29, Pwi-29, Bi-29 and Ci-30 were built for the company in several delivery series Passenger traffic. The cars met the DRG's expectations. As a result, many older state railway wagons and splinter types were able to be decommissioned. The running characteristics of the cars, which were not particularly satisfactory for passengers, quickly earned them the well-known nickname “blunderbusses”. The chaos of the war inevitably meant that many European railway companies were also able to have two-axle standard transit cars in their stocks. What they all had in common, however, was that the cars left general entertainment stock towards the end of the 1960s and beginning of the 1970s. The cars that still exist today are very popular on various museum railways at home and abroad.
