BRAWA 50848 - H0 tank car 2-axle Z[P] "VTG" DB
Role model information
At the end of the 1920s, the Deutsche Reichsbahn had completed its own development of standardized interchangeable running gear. From 1928 onwards, the wagon industry installed these drives in countless wagons, which significantly simplified the subsequent replacement of spare parts in vehicle maintenance and contributed to significant cost savings. Tank wagons with a capacity of 19.2 m³ were among the first types of wagon in which the new replacement components were used. These wagons were primarily needed for the transport of various flammable liquids, such as heating oil, tar oil or vegetable oils.
Due to the many small orders from various customers and vehicle adjusters, there were several small differences in the details of the wagons. What they all had in common, however, was the use of a uniform underframe with a wheelbase of 4.5 m and a length of 8.8 m over buffers (Lüp) in a riveted construction. Since welding technology was not yet advanced enough in 1928, the majority of the boilers were still manufactured using conventional rivet construction. In the years 1928 to 1938, over 1000 cars were built, the last of which were not phased out in Germany until 1983.
