BRAWA 50799 - H0 low-loader wagon Stm309 DB
Role model information
Friedrich Krupp Maschinenfabriken AG built a total of 15 type St 309a low-bed wagons for the German Federal Railway (DB) between 1957 and 1966. These wagons were specifically designed to transport small, heavy goods. With a dead weight of approx. 15 t, a payload of up to 21 t was possible. Due to the compact design, which was dominated exclusively by the curved long beam, it was not possible to equip the vehicles with a compressed air brake. In order to still be able to secure the cars when parked, only one set of wheels could be locked using a handbrake. In addition to the DB, the Dutch State Railways also purchased five of these vehicles from Krupp from 1962 onwards for the same purposes. In Germany, the last six cars left the DB AG fleet in 2004.
