Role model information

The Royal Bavarian State Railway purchased two-axle wagons from the Augsburg Nürnberg machine factory for milk transport and especially for the transport of milk cans. The cars had a riveted underframe with half-timbered axle holders and a 4.50 m axle base. For their use in passenger trains, they received a Westinghouse type air pressure brake. For optimal ventilation of the loading space, the cars had Growe fans on the roof and ventilation slots in the walls at the front. The light paint ensured that the temperatures inside were kept within limits in summer. The wagons had two opposing sliding doors on each side so that loading work could be completed as quickly as possible during short stops. In order to collect the milk cans from the Bavarian dairy farmers who brought their products by wagon to the nearest train station, the wagons were set up on scheduled passenger trains. This enabled the perishable milk to be transported to the dairies in the city as quickly as possible at the time.
