BRAWA 48340 - H0 refrigerator car UIC St. 1 “STEF” SNCF
Model information
The international railway association UIC included two types of refrigerated wagons in its proposals for standardized wagon designs. The Standard 1 (St. 1) became the most frequently built refrigerated van to date. The state railways of Greece, Morocco, Italy, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands and Belgium procured examples of the St. 1. They ran on the German Federal Railway as private cars from the Interfrigo company. Meat companies, breweries and grocery chains discontinued this refrigerated truck. A total of around 6,500 examples were built. In the 1960s and 1970s there was hardly a freight train without this reliable wagon. The ice chambers could be filled with ice cream sticks by hand using end platforms.
