The "megafret" container wagon was developed for the transport of the so-called "high cube" containers. These are containers that have corner heights of 2.80 or even 3.20 m. The Transfesa sliding tarpaulin containers are 45 feet long. To ensure economic utilization of the "megafret" wagons, normal standard containers are also transported. Up to four 20-foot containers can be loaded. The car can be driven at speeds of up to 140 km/h and the unit has a payload of 87 t. The cars are used on all European railways, including Great Britain.
