BRAWA 47295 - H0 Boxcar Gos-uv253 "Peugeot Talbot" DB
Prototype information
Based on the UIC standard car Gmhs 53, the DB developed a car that was around 2 m longer and which otherwise also met the UIC specifications in all its equipment features. In contrast to its original model, it already had the newly standardized 2 m wide loading door. At this point in time, the UIC was unable to agree on a larger standard design; this only followed later in the form of the Glmms 61. The car, known as the Glm(e)hs 50, was only slightly longer than the large-capacity G-cars of the pre-war period, which already caused a lot of controversy at the time of construction. At that time, a car with a loading length of at least 12.5 m was already required, so increasing the loading space did not go far enough for many, while others were of the opinion that it had strayed too far from the UIC specifications. Despite all these circumstances, around 12,000 cars were built from 1953 to 1958 - with board walls until 1954, then with panel walls. Around a quarter of all cars received a handbrake, initially with the characteristic metal brakeman's housing. At least 700 wagons were given electric heating cables so that they could be used on passenger trains in express freight transport. Some cars were rented long-term and received advertising badges from the company in question. By the mid-1970s, the wagons with board walls were phased out or were equipped with panel walls. Since 1965 the Glm(e)hs 50 were referred to as Gbrs(-v) 245. In 1980, after most of the heating cables had been eliminated, the name was changed to Gos(-uv) 245. In the 1980s, the stock began to be reduced, although larger stocks were sold to the DR. In 1997 there were still 35 cars in stock, the last three were retired in 2000.
