Role model information

As UIC standard type 2, the UIC standardized a flat wagon with a loading length of 12.64m and a LüP of 14.04m. The car was purchased by almost all European railways with and without side walls. From 1968 onwards, the DB procured a total of 2,695 types 663 and 664 cars without side walls and 660 units of type 665 with side walls. The special feature of the DB wagons were the side walls made of aluminum, while the other European railways preferred side walls made of steel construction.

A large number of the wagons purchased by the DB are still in use after some modifications. The modifications involved equipping with Y25 bogies and converting some wagons into container wagons.
